The web runs on copy. Even blogs and news websites have a need for some copy writing — assuming that they plan to make any money whatsoever. I’ve always found it harder to write copy than anything else, especially when you start considering SEO and other factors. I’ve read blogs, ebooks and more to improve my copy. As far as free resources go, Google provided me with one of the fastest reads (and quite a few good ideas).
Google’s Conversion University provides a broad overview of how to write website copy, among many other topics associated with selling through a website. I think it’s worthwhile to read just about everything else in the ‘University,’ personally, because being able to discuss these issues can move your copy from just another design element on a web page to something actually participating in the process — but that’s just me.
